MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of lacrosse, team play and sportsmanship. We encourage learning in a supportive, community environment where individual effort is affirmed and mistakes are recognized as the foundation of mastery. We believe that winning is important, but consider the opportunity to teach life lessons to be a higher priority.

We teach players to "Honor the Game" by respecting the rules, opponents, officials, teammates and themselves.

We expect players to make lacrosse a priority and give their full effort in both practices and games. While not always reflected on the scoreboard, our teams win when they put forth a winning effort and demonstrate improved lacrosse skills, better team play and good sportsmanship.

General Information

Our Club

North Seattle Lacrosse has up to two K2, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade teams depending on registration and coach volunteers.

We are an independent club receiving a schedule in coordination with the Greater Eastside Lacrosse League, consisting of 23 lacrosse programs in the greater Seattle area.

USALacrosse Memberships

All players are required to have a current USA Lacrosse Membership ($30).  USA Lacrosse provides insurance to each player as well as to the Club.

Registration

Registration usually takes place in November for returning families and opens in late November/early December for new families. Our registration fees are:

K-2nd: $300

3rd - 8th: $375

Fees cover uniforms, coaching stipends, field expenses, league dues, referee costs, team equipment, and storage.  Registration fees are generally non-refundable.

Scholarships

We offer a limited number of half and full scholarships each season.  Scholarships cover registration fees only.  (USA Lacrosse memberships and individual equipment costs are not included.)  Please contact the Registrar at nslaxpresident@gmail.com to request a scholarship.

Season Information

For 3rd - 8th grade, practices start around the beginning of February, with games beginning in early March and extending into mid-May.  For Kindergarten - 2nd, practices begin in March with games starting late March. The  season consists of :

  • 5/6 & 7/8 Teams: 10 Saturday games
  • 3/4 Teams: 9 Saturday games
  • K2 Team: 8 Saturday games

Each team practices for 90 minutes twice a week with the exception of K2, which is 60 mins. Practice schedules are not normally available until after field assignments are received from the city in January.

Attendance Expectations

Because demand is high and space is limited, we ask that you make North Seattle Lacrosse your spring commitment.  Coaches will expect attendance to be better than 85% for practice and games.  Please consider this before registering.

Locations

Our home field is Eckstein Middle School.  Practice locations also typically include Jane Addams Middle School and Magnuson Park.  Approximately half of our games are held at Eckstein, and the remainder are at our opponents’ home fields in the Greater Seattle area.

Individual Equipment

The following equipment is required for each NSLAX player:  stick, helmet, mouth guard, cup, shoulder pads, elbow pads, chest protector, and gloves.  Cleats are also recommended.  Before purchasing equipment, we recommend that you consult the USA Lacrosse Equipment Fitting Guide.  Some of the best prices we’ve found for starter packages can be found HERE.

Volunteering

North Seattle Lacrosse relies on volunteer support to be successful.  At a minimum, all families are expected to help with timing and scorekeeping at games.  Other roles are available for those who are interested in helping with coaching or team/Club coordination.
